DR. THILAN BARTHOLOMEUZ Locality Lead  (Mid Notts) 

 
Thilan is the NATH board member for Mid-Nottinghamshire and has been in General Practice since 2008. He is a GP Partner at Abbey Medical Group and has previously been a GP Partner at Lombard Medical Centre, Newark and Sherwood Medical Partnership in Mansfield. 
 
In October 2012, Thilan became the Primary Care Cancer Lead for the CCG, and in September 2013 became a Macmillan GP in Service Redesign and Development of Cancer Pathways. 
 
In March 2016 he went on to become the Chair of Nottinghamshire Strategic Cancer Advisory Group. In early 2015 Thilan became a Governing Body member of the NHS Newark & Sherwood CCG and in October 2016, and was appointed as the Clinical Chair. 
Thilan is also the Mid-Notts GP representative of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICS Board, ICS Clinical Reference Group, ICS Population Health Management Coordination Group and Cross Nottinghamshire Clinicians for IT Group, and in April 2020 was appointed as the Clinical Lead for Mid Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Partnership. 
 
Thilan’s journey started in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he received an Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery degree with Honours (MBBS) back in 2002 before moving to the UK in same year. He completed his GP training at Nottingham in 2008. During this time he completed a Diplomate of Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health (DFSRH) and Diplomate of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG) before doing his Postgraduate in Medical Education at De Montfort University some 4 years later. 
 
More recently, Thilan was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners. 
 

DR. NIGEL CARTWRIGHT Locality Lead (South Notts) 

 
Nigel has been a local GP in a thriving practice for over 30 years, and is one of the founders here at the Nottinghamshire Alliance Training Hub as well as helping to found the Rushcliffe Training Hub back in 2015. 
 
As well as being a local trainer for over 20 years; Nigel was a Programme Director on the Nottingham GP training scheme, providing a wealth of training and learning experiences to those both in General Practice and with Nottingham University Hospitals, our Secondary Care Partners. 
 
Nigel also bears some experience assessment expertise, having been an Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) examiner since 2003. 
 

DR. RASHBAL GHATTAORA Locality Lead (Nottingham City) 

 

DR. SARAH LAYZELL Chair  

 
With 25 years as a partner in an inner-city GP Practice, Sarah shares NATH’s passion for equal and proficient education for all individuals in the sector. 
 
With a number of leadership roles under her belt including; Prescribing Lead for Nottingham Primary Care Trust (PCT), Programme Director for Nottingham GP Training Scheme, and Associate Postgraduate Dean Quality Lead at East Midlands Deanery - Sarah brings great value to the NATH team. 
 
Today, Sarah works as Head of School for GP Training East Midlands, and East Midlands Training Hub Lead. With a Master’s Degree in Interprofessional Education, Sarah is passionate about maximising the potential of care workers everywhere. 
 
Sarah holds a primary medical degree from Southampton and an MSc in Medical Education from Staffordshire. She also has a postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Family Planning and Reproductive Health, Prescribing Sciences, Life Coaching and Clinical Hypnotherapy. 
 

NICOLA PAYNE Programme Manager  

LISA SOULTANA Board Member  

 
As a reputable and in demand leadership and organisational development consultant, Lisa prides herself on building strong relationships within organisations, cohesive teams and high performing and effective boards. 
 
Lisa is an associate for Nottinghamshire Alliance Training Hub (NATH), and is their board’s critical friend. 
 
Lisa is also an associate for NHS England & NHS Improvement (Midlands Leadership & Lifelong Learning). 
 
Lisa runs a successful leadership and organisational consultancy; Enono - supporting many clients from primary care organisations and NHS acute hospital trusts across the UK. 
 
In July 2019, Lisa was awarded a distinction for her Master’s in Business Administration (E-MBA) with Nottingham Business School, and Strategic Management and Leadership (Level 7) Chartered Management Institute. She also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Public Services Management, an honours degree in law (LL.B), and a Diploma in Social Policy and Economics. 
 
Lisa is a change facilitator and a PRINCE2, LEAN, OD, Everything DiSC and Five Behaviours of a Cohesive Team Practitioner.

Our team come from a wide range of clinical and non-clinical backgrounds and are skilled in a wealth of capabilities. 

ANNA DAVIS Integrated Care Partnerships' Practice Nurse Lead 

In 2016 Anna moved into practice nursing, after many years of leadership working in acute medicine and critical care. In 2020 Anna started in her new role. She works across Nottinghamshire particularly around population health and integrated working and is the PN representative at regional, national and local nursing and midwifery cabinet meetings. She is keen to promote the GPN voice and support other members of the GPN team holding a regular Nursing associate forum and signposting to CPD and other opportunities. 
 
Anna holds a Bachelor of Nursing and a Masters in Clinical Education. 
STEVE WHITE 
Learning & Development Manager 
Steve is a Learning & Development Manager at NATH, responsible for projects and work relating to workforce development (WFD) funding, placements, apprenticeship levy, and recruitment. Steve also supports projects in retention, advanced clinical practice, GPN fundamentals and the management of learning and development applications. He brings with him a range of experiences from a 20-year career in training and development, leading at a local, regional and national level. Steve has specialised in apprenticeships, funding, youth engagement and workforce development in public and private sector settings, most recently with Lincolnshire Police.  
 
Steve holds a BA (Hons) in international relations and management, and is currently studying an MBA in strategic leadership. 

ADAM JONES Project Manager  

 
Adam is an Associate Project Manager for NATH 
He is primarily focused on Workforce Development and Planning where he brings a fresh perspective to the challenges within Primary Care, having come from a background in HR, Pharmacy Operations and Retail Operations. 
 
Adam has years of Project Management and support experience and is particularly keen on championing Continuous Improvement practices and identifying new ways of working. 
He is adept at utilizing workforce data in order to provide budgeting and forecast solutions, “what-if” analyses and delivering actionable insight to promote workforce transformation. 
 
Within NATH Adam is helping to expand our understanding of the workforce data that we hold, identify new opportunities both in the workforce and our data practices and deliver substantive projects. 
 
DR. ERRUM MUMTAZ 
GP Educator Lead 
 
Errum is a GP in Nottingham and also the NATH GP Educator working on practice based education and workforce development for Allied Health Professionals within Primary Care.  
 
Errum has a keen interest in Quality Improvement and service efficiency. As a HEE Digitial Fellow, she helped developed the clinical aspects of virtual healthcare and remote consultations in Nottinghamshire. She represents fellow peers on the HEE Midlands Clinical Board and Quality Forum. She is also East Midlands Leader for the Next Generation GP - a national program of leadership education for GPs. 
 
KATE KNOWLES

Project Lead 
 
 
Kate has joined NATH in a year’s part-time secondment from Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). She is responsible for leading on the implementation of the Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System (ICS) Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) Agenda and will support the ICS ACP steering group in developing and implementing a multi-professional ICS advanced practice strategy. 
 
Having completed the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice at the University of Nottingham (UoN) Kate also works part-time as an ACP within Acute Medicine, Medicine Divisional Lead ACP at NUH and Assistant Honorary Professor UoN. Previous accomplishments include Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellow (2017). 
 

NICOLA PAYNE Programme Manager 

 
Nicola is the Professional Lead for Nursing and Allied Health Professionals at the Training Hub. 
She previously worked on a project for Health Education England looking at the workforce development needs of the independent care sector in relation to the implementation of the Enhanced Health in Care Homes Framework - which led her to collaborating with Skills for Care, where she helped deliver part of the Well Led Programme across the Midlands and the East. 
 
Nicola works closely with local authorities here in Nottingham, helping to develop educational sessions for the independent care sector with the goal of improving clinical knowledge and reducing demand on urgent care services. 
Since 2018, Nicola has also been part of the Frailty Faculty at Nottingham Trent University, and is now lecturing on a range of modules at the University. 
 
As a member of the Health Foundation’s Q Community, Nicola has an interest in quality improvement, and founded Nottinghamshire’s Independent Care Sector Community of Practice (@Notts_CareCoP) which aims to improve professional relationships whilst reducing unwarranted variation and silo working. She also played an integral role in setting up the Mid Notts Proactive Care Home Service in 2015, and in 2018 was shortlisted in the Nursing Times in the ‘Rising Star’ category. 
 
Nicola holds a BSc degree (Hons) in Nursing, an MSc degree in Advanced Nursing and has also recently been awarded the title of ‘Queen’s Nurse’. 
 
LAURENCE QUIRK 
Learning & Development Manager 
 
Laurence’s is one of the Learning & Development Managers at NATH, responsible projects and work relating to work experience, CPD funding, workforce planning, embedding new roles and the training needs analysis. He brings with him a range of experiences from a 30 year career in the voluntary and community sector at a local, regional and national level. At a local level Laurence’s roles came into close contact with primary care, supporting user and carer involvement in joint commissioning, promoting healthy communities and patient participation activities. 
 
Laurence holds a BSc (Hons) in Geography and a BA (Hons) in Leadership and Management. 
 
MICHELE TUTTLE 
Care Project Officer 
 
Michele is the Care Project Officer for NATH with responsibility for delivery of RESTORE2 Early Deterioration Training into care homes and home care. Her role includes extensive engagement with both care homes and home care, delivering the training and offering on-going support afterwards. Michele has a passion for supporting social care and has had two previous roles in this field. She has a varied career in this NHS having previously held positions at East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS), CityCare, the ICS, mental health, CCGs and public health. 
 

LOUISE WOODWARD Operations & Liaison Manager (Mid Notts) 

 
As Operations & Liaison Manager for Mid-Notts, Louise is the main point of contact for primary and community care colleagues across this locality, assisting with queries regarding workforce development and what NATH can offer (e.g. funding, events and training opportunities). She project manages some of NATH’s projects (e.g. the ShinyMind App) and HEE Core Functions, supporting project leads to deliver learning and development interventions across the county. She also leads on NATH’s brand and identity as well as the creative side to communications and strategies.  
 
She is a PRINCE2 Practitioner, values being driven, creative, supportive, trustful and belonging to an inclusive community, sparking her motivation in this role. 
 

SHARON HOVEY Interim Administration Assistant 

 
Sharon joined the NATH team in April 2021 and will be providing support to the whole team with all areas of administration. 
Sharon has experience of working in a variety of roles across public sector including both the NHS and Prison Service. She has worked as a teaching assistant at Rampton and staff learning and development co-ordinator for the Prison Service ensuring all staff were fully trained in their various roles. She also volunteers at Newark's Covid-19 vaccination centre. 
 
Sharon loves to help people and try to make a difference for them to be able to strive in their careers.

SARAH CHALMERS-PAGE Evidence & Evaluation Associate 

 
Sarah is an experienced NHS Manager also working as a Freelance Consultant in Healthcare evaluation, evidence, improvement and strategy since 2014. 
Experienced in primary, community and hospital care, and having worked for the likes of National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for just shy of 4 years, Sarah brings a wealth of experience to the team. 
As an associate of NATH, Sarah has conducted an evaluation of NATH’s GP Fellowship Programme; a governance review of integrated urgent care workers evaluating the implementation of several new roles in primary care and strategic development across the organisation. 
 
As a Freelancer, she has also evaluated a range of health and social care developments including homeless health services in London; positive risk in services for people with Alzheimer’s Disease in Wales, and provided support for the development of Strategic Transformation Plans in the North East of England. 
 
Sarah also holds an MA in Psychology, an MSc in Healthcare Leadership and Management and a PGC in Health Economics. 
 

DR. ADELE CRESSWELL Mental Health Project Associate 

 
As a former NHS Manager with experience at Senior and Board levels in Primary Care Trusts and in a Mental Health Trust - we’re proud to welcome Adele to the NATH team. 
Adele is an Honorary Assistant Professor in the Centre for Health Innovation, Leadership, and Learning (CHILL) and is currently the Lay Director on the Nottingham City GP Alliance, Lay Member on the Vale of Trent Faculty of the Royal College of Physicians. 
 
In addition, Adele acts as a Trustee of Lifeskills - a charity providing drug and knife crime education in schools. Adele also teaches and supervises various masters programmes helping nurture upcoming talent in the healthcare sector. 
 

DR. PAUL DAVIS GP Associate 

 
Paul’s time is split between working as a GP Fellow at the Training Hub, operating as a GP at the Orchard Surgery in Kegworth and completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education at the University of Nottingham. 
 
His work at the Training Hub is predominantly focused on mental health, looking at the role of prescribing practice nurses and the scope for extended involvement in Mental Health reviews within primary care. 
 

DR. RASHBAL GHATTAORA GP Educator Lead  

Rashbal is a GP Partner in Nottingham. He has a wide portfolio including GP Appraisal Lead for NHS England, Midlands Team; Discipline Specific Advisor to PAG; Deputy Clinical Director for PCN-Unity; RCGP CSA/RCA Examiner; and Mentor. 
 
Rashbal is supporting the NATH team with developing strategies to support Clinical Supervision of new ARRS roles. He is also involved in the developing the NATH Multi-Professional Support Unit. 
His qualifications include DCH, DTM&H, FRCGP; PGCMedEd; MPH. 
 

DR. JOHN LU  GP Associate 

 
As a practising GP and experienced as a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at NUH, John is pleased to be part of NATH and provide invaluable training to care workers across the country. 
 
In recent months, John and his team are developing Adult Mental Health Educational Modules for undergraduate General Practising Nursing, Nurse Prescribers and Advanced Nurse Practitioners; which he is confident will make a real difference to their care and practises. 
 
John holds a Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBBS), as well as an Associate Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons certificate, Doctor of Medicine. 
 

SARAH PARTRIDGE Pharmacy Project Associate 

 
Sarah leads a clinical supervision project at NATH. Initially aimed at clinical pharmacists Sarah is developing clinical supervision processes, resources and solutions for the whole practice team. Sarah is a GP Practice Pharmacist based at Platform One Practice in Nottingham City. Having worked in primary care for 5 years she has experience of working in hospitals, community and university. Sarah has an interest in education and development of the primary care workforce and brings a wealth of experience to the team.  
 
Sarah has a Master of Pharmacy, as well as a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice and Postgraduate Certificate in Prescribing Studies. 
 
DR. DAVID PEACHEY 
GP Associate 
GP Assistant Project 
 
David is a practising GP currently working at St. George’s Medical Practice in West Bridgford. Although born and raised here in Nottingham, David went on to train at Sheffield Medical School before returning to the area to complete his foundation training shortly after. Working with NATH, David has a keen interest in the role of Physician Associates. Exploring everything from training, to visiting universities where they are trained, right through to exploring the local need for placements. 
 
Now at the start of his second year fellowship, David’s time is split between teaching at the University of Nottingham, working within the alliance of NATH and leading 6 clinical sessions at St George's Medical Practice. 
 
David also acts as a GP tutor for 4th year students in his clinical work at St. George’s, and has vast experience in teaching across multiple undergraduate year groups. 
 

JULIE REID Associate 

 
As a past Chair to the N&S Practice Manager Forum, Chair to N&S PBC Board, and Co-Founder of the Collingham Healthcare Education Centre (CHEC) - Julie is a great asset to the NATH team. 
With 25 years in general management, Julie has an impressive 18 years in Primary Care and is an active advocate for practice management in several arenas (i.e. CMI, Notts LMC, IHM, PCN) and now here at NATH. 
 
DR. SAIRA JAWAID 
GP Associate 
 
Saira is a practicing GP in Nottingham. Prior to her career in general practice, she worked in hospital medicine; completing core medical training, with a year in dermatology and a further year in healthcare of the elderly medicine. She is a member of Royal College of Physicians and general practitioners. 
 
Saira has a special interest in medical education. She works as a trainee transition programme tutor for the Phoenix Programme and works at selection centre for GP recruitment. 
 
Another interest of Saira is Social prescribing. She began working alongside the Nottinghamshire alliance training hub in May 2020, helping out with various aspects of Social Prescribing projects. She has been providing teaching sessions to social prescribing link workers on a variety of topics, along with supporting them educationally where possible. As part of this role, she participates in regional meetings and webinars as well. 
 
DR. JAMES WALDRON 
GP Associate 
 
 
James has many roles and responsibilities across the Nottinghamshire region. 
As a practising GP here in Nottingham, James also represents the ICS and Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) First 5 Group and works as a GP tutor in the Phoenix Programme. 
 
Over the last few years James has organised and chaired a number of conferences in the healthcare space, as well as educational evenings and engagement events both in person and online. 
He also works as an Associate with the Training Hub, running and developing educational programmes as well as a variety of other events. 
 
James holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and is currently undertaking HEE – Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) programme.

DR. REBECCA CHELLASWAMY 
GP Educator Associate 
 
 
Rebecca is a portfolio GP with special interests in cancer care & the primary/secondary care interface, in addition to training and education. She is a GP Tutor for the Phoenix Programme and is part of the Clinical Design Authority team of clinicians at Nottingham & Nottinghamshire CCG. She is passionate about breaking down barriers between different parts of the health system and supporting colleagues. She has been exploring the support/training needs of allied health professionals in the new roles in Primary Care and will be part of the NATH Multiprofessional Support Unit team. 
 
Professional qualifications: BMBS, BMedSci, MRCGP, DRCOG, PGDipMedEd.
