CPD Funding Opportunities
Grants to support the cost of your training and development

NHS England have verbally informed us that there will be a CPD budget for 2025/26, but are not yet able to confirm the amount. Staff groups eligible for CPD funding can apply through the normal route. We are using the response to the 2025 Notts Primary Care Training Needs Analysis to plan training events and purchase learning based on the identified needs. If you have any questions please contact us.
You've found a course but need funding to book on?
Through CPD Funding we can pay up to £333 for Nursing and Allied Health Professional (AHP) roles to attend training, such as short courses, conferences, and university level modules.
We can fund other Primary Care roles, except GPs, with Workforce Development Funding (subject to NHS England grants).

What roles are within Nursing and AHPs?
Within Primary Care, CPD Funding can be requested by:
Advanced Practitioners
Dieticians
Nurse Dispensers
Nurse Locums
Nurse Specialists
Nursing Partners
Nursing Associates
Occupational Therapists
Paramedics
Physiotherapists
Podiatrists
Practice Nurses
This includes Trainees of the above roles. Full and part-time staff are eligible for the same amount. Staff can move organisations within the NHS and retain their funding. It is not available for those working in social care, local government or sectors outside the NHS.
Why are GPs excluded from CPD/WD Funding?
We are governed by NHS England on how grants, such as CPD and Workforce Development Funding, can be allocated and they have specified eligible roles. If you are a GP and would like advice on your career development, you can chat with the Phoenix Programme.
When will NATH know what training funding is available?
NHS England usually tells us between 1 April and 30 June. As soon as we are notified we will update our website and promote the funding opportunities via our regular communication channels. Please note that education grants are subject to change.
How does the training get paid?
After your application has been approved you will need to book onto the training course. It can be paid in two ways:

You ask the training provider to invoice us directly

Your employer pays for the course and then invoices us for reimbursement
Invoices can take up to 28 days to process from date sent to us. We do not raise Purchase Orders (POs). The invoice will need to include the following information:
Funding request ID number
Name of learner
Course title
Course start date
Course cost
Payment details
