£5,000 available to support Physician Associate preceptorship programmes
Did you know HEE can offer £5,000 in funding to support Physician Associate preceptorship programmes in primary care?
Interest must be submitted before Sunday 5 March 2023. From 1 April 2023 Health Education England will cease to exist as it transitions to the new NHS England. Therefore, its ledgers will close on 31 March 2023 and it is important for HEE to have sufficient time to process the applications and issue contracts before this date.
Eligibility criteria
In order to redeem this offer you must meet the following HEE Preceptorship Criteria:
The preceptorship programme must be undertaken for a minimum of 1 year and at least 50% of that time should be in primary care (normally the programme will be wholly in primary care).
The preceptorship is open to Physician Associates (PAs) who:
Commence a programme in the first twelve months of practice after first gaining registration on the national register or,
Take up their first post in primary care since gaining registration; this includes the transition of PAs from secondary care with a maximum of 3 years’ experience.
The Preceptee must have access to a trained mentor for the duration of the Preceptorship.
Application process
This needs to shared with Nottinghamshire Alliance Training Hub (NATH) to ensure programme consistency across the Integrated Care System.
Joint application between NATH and employer is submitted to HEE.
£5,000 is administered via NATH to the employer.
New process being trialled which splits £5,000 into two payments across the year.
