Applications Open: Pharmacy Technician Development Programme – Preparing for the Future

We’re delighted to share that NHS England, in collaboration with the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE), has launched a new national training opportunity, the Pharmacy Technician Development Programme: Preparing for the Future. 
 
This exciting new initiative is designed to build confidence, strengthen skills, and empower pharmacy technicians to deliver a wider range of clinical and patient-facing services across healthcare settings. 

About the Programme 

Preparing for the Future offers a flexible, supportive learning experience for all registered pharmacy technicians, helping them develop key areas such as: 
 
🩺 Clinical confidence and decision-making 
🌿 Leadership and communication skills 
💬 Professional practice and service delivery 
 
Participants will be guided throughout by a dedicated education supervisor, ensuring the programme is tailored to their individual needs and pace of learning. 

Programme Overview 

Duration: October 2025 – March 2026 
 
Format: Flexible, structured learning with one-to-one support 
 
Focus areas include: 
 
Adapting to the evolving scope of pharmacy practice 
Understanding changes to supervision legislation 
Supporting the expansion of Pharmacy First services 
Enhancing safe practice through Patient Group Directions (PGDs) 
 
At the start of the programme, each participant will work with their education supervisor to identify personal development goals and create a tailored learning plan to support progress throughout the course.
