DR. SARAH LAYZELL Chair 

 
With 25 years as a partner in an inner-city GP Practice, Sarah shares NATH’s passion for equal and proficient education for all individuals in the sector. 
With a number of leadership roles under her belt including; Prescribing Lead for Nottingham PCT, Programme Director for Nottingham GP Training Scheme, and Associate Postgraduate Dean Quality Lead at East Midlands Deanery - Sarah brings great value to the NATH team. 
Today, Sarah works as Head of School for GP Training East Midlands, and East Midlands Training Hub Lead. With a Master’s Degree in Interprofessional Education, Sarah is passionate about maximising the potential of care workers everywhere. 
Sarah holds a primary medical degree from Southampton and an MSc in Medical Education from Staffordshire. She also has a postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Family Planning and Reproductive Health, Prescribing Sciences, Life Coaching and Clinical Hypnotherapy. 

SIMON BROWES  MSc, RN, SCPHN, FCNA(NZ), FRSPH  CEO 

 
Simon is a consultant practitioner with a clinical background in primary, community and urgent healthcare. He has worked in clinical, academic, operational and strategic leadership roles in the UK and New Zealand. Simon joined NEMS CBS in 2011, and roles have included service clinical lead, clinical strategy and development leader, and Executive Clinical Director. 
 
In 2016 Simon established the NEMS Health Partners Training Hub and co-founded the Nottinghamshire Urgent & Emergency Care Partnership, with Nottingham CityCare, Nottingham University Hospitals and the Primary Care Development Centre. He now oversees a portfolio of education, research and workforce development projects and leads the strategic alliance of Training Hubs across the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System. Simon is an honorary assistant professor at University of Nottingham School of Health Sciences. Shortlisted in Nurse Manager of the Year Nursing Times Workforce Awards 

DR. NIGEL CARTWRIGHT Locality Lead (South Notts) 

 
Nigel has been a local GP in a thriving practice for over 30 years, and is one of the founders here at the Nottinghamshire Alliance Training Hub as well as helping to found the Rushcliffe Training Hub back in 2015. 
As well as being a local trainer for over 20 years; Nigel was a Programme Director on the Nottingham GP training scheme, providing a wealth of training and learning experiences to those both in General Practice and with Nottingham University Hospitals, our Secondary Care Partners. 
Nigel also bears some experience assessment expertise, having been an MRCGP examiner since 2003. 

DR. LISA STEINER Locality Lead ( Nottingham City) 

 
Lisa’s journey in medicine began in London at UCL, where she spent some time working both locally and overseas in New Zealand. 
In 1997, she moved to Nottingham where she completed her postgraduate GP training, qualifying with MRCGP. 
She now works as a GP Principal, Educator and Appraiser across multiple sites in the Nottinghamshire area. 
Lisa holds an MSc degree in Health Service Research and Postgraduate Certificate of Medical Education. 

DR. THILAN BARTHOLOMEUZ Locality Lead (Mid Notts) 

 
Thilan is the NATH board member for Mid-Nottinghamshire and has been in General Practice since 2008. He is a GP Partner at Abbey Medical Group and has previously been a GP Partner at Lombard Medical Centre, Newark and Sherwood Medical Partnership in Mansfield. 
 
In October 2012, Thilan became the Primary Care Cancer Lead for the CCG, and in September 2013 became a Macmillan GP in Service Redesign and Development of Cancer Pathways. 
 
In March 2016 he went on to become the Chair of Nottinghamshire Strategic Cancer Advisory Group, and in early 2015 Thilan became a Governing Body member of the NHS Newark & Sherwood CCG and in October 2016, and was appointed as the Clinical Chair. 
 
Thilan is also the Mid-Nottinghamshire GP representative of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICS Board, ICS Clinical Reference Group, ICS Population Health Management Coordination Group and Cross Nottinghamshire Clinicians for IT Group, and in 
April 2020 was appointed as the Clinical Lead for Mid Nottinghamshire Integrated Care 
Partnership. 
 
Thilan’s journey started in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he received an MBBS (Honours) back in 2002 before moving to the UK in 2007, where he completed a Diplomate of Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health (DFSRH). 
 
The same year, Thilan also completed a Diplomate of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG) before doing his Postgraduate in Medical Education at De Montfort University some 4 years later. 
 
More recently, Thilan was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners. 
LISA SOULTANA 
Board Secretary 
 
As a reputable Primary Care Consultant, Lisa prides herself on building strong relationships, cohesive teams and high performing boards in the primary care sector. 
She currently acts as an associate for Nottinghamshire Alliance Training Hub (NATH), on their leadership and organisational development (OD) agenda and is their board secretary. 
She is also an associate for NHS England & NHS Improvement (Midlands), on their primary care leadership and OD agenda across the Midlands and for Health Education England and supports the maturity of Training Hubs across East Midlands. 
Lisa also runs a successful leadership and OD consultancy; Enono - supporting clients from primary care organisations across the UK. 
In July 2019, Lisa was awarded a distinction for her Master’s in Business Administration (E-MBA) with Nottingham Business School, and Strategic Management and Leadership (Level 7) Chartered Management Institute. She also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Public Services Management, an honours degree in law (LL.B), and a Diploma in Social Policy and Economics. 
Lisa is a qualified change facilitator and a PRINCE2, LEAN, OD, and Everything DiSC Practitioner. 
LYNN LAPARE 
Board Member 
 
As the current Director of Resources and Deputy Chief Executive with 10 years total experience at NEMS - Lynn is a valuable part of the team here at NATH. 
Lynn represents both NATH and NEMS as a key board member and is also a member of the Sub-Group for Finance and Remuneration Board here at NATH. 
As Director of Resources at NEMS, Lynn is responsible for managing the financial, human resources, data analysis and facilities functions of the organisation. 
Lynn’s department also provides the financial/management accounts function for the NATH along with oversight in relation to HR matters, leading on recruitment, ensuring HR issues are dealt with consistent with NEMS policies and processes.

NICOLA PAYNE Professional Lead for Nursing & AHP 

 
Nicola is the Professional Lead for Nursing and Allied Health Professionals at the Training Hub. 
She previously worked on a project for Health Education England looking at the workforce development needs of the independent care sector in relation to the implementation of the Enhanced Health in Care Homes Framework - which led her to collaborating with Skills for Care, where she helped deliver part of the Well Led Programme across the Midlands and the East. 
Nicola works closely with local authorities here in Nottingham, helping to develop educational sessions for the independent care sector with the goal of improving clinical knowledge and reducing demand on urgent care services. 
Since 2018, Nicola has also been part of the Frailty Faculty at Nottingham Trent University, and is now lecturing on a range of modules at the University. 
As a member of the Health Foundation’s Q Community, Nicola has an interest in quality improvement, and founded Nottinghamshire’s Independent Care Sector Community of Practice (@Notts_CareCoP) which aims to improve professional relationships whilst reducing unwarranted variation and silo working. 
She also played an integral role in setting up the Mid Notts Proactive Care Home Service in 2015, and in 2018 was shortlisted in the Nursing Times in the ‘Rising Star’ category. 
Nicola holds a BSc degree (Hons) in Nursing, an MSc degree in Advanced Nursing and has also recently been awarded the title of ‘Queen’s Nurse’. 
LISA HODGKINSON 
Inter-professional Learning Facilitator 
 
Since the early 2000’s, Lisa has been working as a Nurse gaining experience in both critical and elderly care, as well as police custody. 
Working alongside the independent care sector, Lisa offers support and workforce development to care home and home care staff. As a key part of the Community of Practice for the independent care sector, Lisa helps with organising events and with the delivery of shared knowledge and support for those working alongside the sector. 
Lisa was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2019 for Nottinghamshire Healthcare’s infection prevention link practitioners, and is a member of the Infection Prevention Society (IPS). Alongside this, Lisa also acts as the Deputy Communications Officer for the Infection IPS Care Home Special Interest Group, and is the Deputy Education Officer IPS Trent branch. 
Working towards a degree in frailty to look at appropriate assessment tools for the residents and clients being cared for by the independent care sector, something she is particularly passionate about today. 
Lisa holds a Diploma of Higher Education in Nursing and currently is working towards a BSc in Frailty. 

SHELLY WORSLEY Lead Nurse Education / Inter-Professional Learning Facilitator 

 
Shelly’s career began in 2003 as an RMN in acute adult mental healthcare, and now acts as our lead Nurse for Education. 
Whilst working in the in-patient setting early in her career, Shelly became involved in the quality assurance of student placements, which grew into a passion for education and inter-professional learning and facilitation. 
In 2009 Shelly left clinical practice to embark on a career in the quality assurance, management and growth of pre-registration student placements for Nursing, Return to Practice Nurses, Nursing Associates, Midwives, and Allied Health Professionals. 
More recently, Shelly has led and implemented a number of successful projects that helped to shape the education of primary care workforces across Nottinghamshire. 
Shelly is currently undertaking a PG certificate in Clinical Supervision and holds a Diploma in Nursing as well as a degree in Health and Social Care.  

DR. TIM DUMBLETON Workforce Information Analyst 

 
Tim’s career began as a Prosthetist, where he completed his PhD. 
As a Workforce Information Analyst, Tim is responsible for conducting analysis, developing information systems, and generating accurate reports to help Primary Care Networks and systems partners further develop workforce capability. 
More recently, Tim works to provide business intelligence and research to NHS organisations, helping them inform better decision making and strategy for the future. 
Tim holds a BSC (Hons) in Prosthetics and Orthotics from the University of Strathclyde. He completed his PhD investigating the pressure distribution within the prosthetic socket to help improve the quality of life of prosthetic limb wearers. 
OSCAR NGUYEN 
Communications & Engagement Officer 
 
Oscar is a Communications and Engagement Officer at NATH, responsible for delivering internal communication with a focus on both engagement and operational functions. Her role varies from website management and producing relevant content, right through to offering support on numerous NATH projects and events. 
As a trusted and reliable member of the team, Oscar brings huge value to the organisation, and plays an important role in the operational efficiency here at NATH. 
Oscar holds a BA degree (Hons) in Business Studies and is currently completing an MSc in Finance and Investment Banking.

SARAH CHALMERS-PAGE 
Associate 
 
Sarah is an experienced NHS Manager also working as a Freelance Consultant in Healthcare evaluation, evidence, improvement and strategy since 2014. 
Experienced in primary, community and hospital care, and having worked for the likes of NICE for just shy of 4 years, Sarah brings a wealth of experience to the team. 
As an associate of NATH, Sarah has conducted an evaluation of NATH’s GP Fellowship Programme; a governance review of integrated urgent care workers evaluating the implementation of several new roles in primary care and strategic development across the organisation. 
As a Freelancer, she has also evaluated a range of health and social care developments including homeless health services in London; positive risk in services for people with Alzheimer’s Disease in Wales, and provided support for the development of Strategic Transformation Plans in the North East of England. 
Sarah also holds an MA in Psychology, an MSc in Healthcare Leadership and Management and a PGC in Health Economics. 

DR. ADELE CRESSWELL Associate 

 
As a former NHS Manager with experience at Senior and Board levels in Primary Care Trusts and in a Mental Health Trust - we’re proud to welcome Adele to the NATH team. 
 
Adele is an Honorary Assistant Professor in the Centre for Health Innovation, Leadership, and Learning (CHILL) and is currently the Lay Director on the Nottingham City GP Alliance, Lay Member on the Vale of Trent Faculty of the Royal College of Physicians. 
 
In addition, Adele acts as a Trustee of Lifeskills - a charity providing drug and knife crime education in schools. Adele also teaches and supervises various masters programmes helping nurture upcoming talent in the healthcare sector. 

DR. PAUL DAVIS GP Fellow 

 
Paul’s time is split between working as a GP Fellow at the Training Hub, operating as a GP at the Orchard Surgery in Kegworth and completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education at the University of Nottingham. 
His work at the Training Hub is predominantly focused on mental health, looking at the role of prescribing practice nurses and the scope for extended involvement in Mental Health reviews within primary care. 
Paul is currently undertaking a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education at the University of Nottingham. 

WES HENSTOCK  Associate 

 
As a Strategic and creative consultant for NATH, Wes brings a wealth of experience from a brand direction and culture building perspective, and is helping NATH gain exposure in the Nottinghamshire area. 
Having been mentored by ABC Shark Tank’s very own Daymon John for a little over 6 years, and playing an integral part of the re-brand and launch of multiple global brands and franchises - Wes is a huge asset to the continued growth of NATH. 
His experience working on a multitude of integrated marketing communication plans & related budgets in both B2B & B2C environments means Wes can give a unique perspective on the overall creative direction and strategy of NATH as we continue to increase our exposure in the Nottinghamshire region. 
Wes runs his own creative agency ( Confidential ) and has worked with and influenced global brands such as: Miami Marlins, NFL, NHL, NASCAR, N.Y Yankees, Georgio Armani, Hermes, DKNY, Levi Straus, soak.com and Ferrari to name a few. 

DR. JON LU  GP Fellow 

 
As a practising GP and experienced as a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at NUH, John is pleased to be part of NATH and provide invaluable training to care workers across the country. 
In recent months, John and his team are developing Adult Mental Health Educational Modules for undergraduate General Practising Nursing, Nurse Prescribers and Advanced Nurse Practitioners; which he is confident will make a real difference to their care and practises. 
John holds a Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBBS), as well as an Associate Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons certificate, Doctor of Medicine. 
DR. DAVID PEACHEY 
GP Associate 
 
David is a practising GP currently working at St. George’s Medical Practice in West Bridgford. Although born and raised here in Nottingham, David went on to train at Sheffield Medical School before returning to the area to complete his foundation training shortly after. Working with Rushcliffe Training Hub, David has a keen interest in the role of Physician Associates. Exploring everything from training, to visiting universities where they are trained, right through to exploring the local need for placements. 
Now at the start of his second year fellowship, David’s time is split between teaching at the University, working within the alliance of Nottinghamshire Training Hubs and leading 6 clinical sessions at St George's Medical Practice. 
David also acts as a GP tutor for 4th year students in his clinical work at St. George’s, and has vast experience in teaching across multiple undergraduate year groups. 

JULIE REID Associate 

 
As a past Chair to the N&S Practice Manager Forum, Chair to N&S PBC Board, and Co-Founder of the Collingham Healthcare Education Centre (CHEC) - Julie is a great asset to the NATH team. 
With 25 years in general management, Julie has an impressive 18 years in Primary Care and is an active advocate for practice management in several arenas (i.e. CMI, Notts LMC, IHM, PCN) and now here at NATH.

DR. JAMES WALDRON 
GP Associate 
 
James has many roles and responsibilities across the Nottinghamshire region. 
As a practising GP here in Nottingham, James also represents the ICS and RCGP First 5 Group and works as a GP tutor in the Phoenix Programme. 
Over the last few years James has organised and chaired a number of conferences in the healthcare space, as well as educational evenings and engagement events both in person and online. 
He also works as an Associate with the Training Hub, running and developing educational programmes as well as a variety of other events. 
James holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and currently undertaking HEE – MOOC programme.
