Multi-Professional Support Unit (MPSU) Bulletin
Multi-Professional Support Unit (MPSU) Bulletin – November 2022
Issue #6

Changing needs of the workforce

Given the demands of primary care and General Practice, we are aware of the issues around capacity to attend training. Therefore, we are presently:

Running short lunchtime events to fit round clinics.
Using different and novel methods to support training such as discussion boards (see below) and prize-winning quizzes (we will hopefully be launching one for Antibiotics Awareness Week in November - watch this space!!!).
Looking at the yearly Training Needs Analysis and liaising with managers to find out exactly what training is needed.
Working with other training providers to compliment and support what is already being delivered.

We are always open to suggestions and feedback so please contact us if you have some great ideas!

Upcoming programme for end of 2022

In addition to our regular supervision and appraisal training we are looking to deliver an exciting programme of training and CPD events including:

This event aims to improve the knowledge, confidence and skills to identify patients with personality disorders in primary care and equip clinicians with some of the tools needed to improve consultations and management for both clinicians and patients.

Find out about low calorie diet programme for your patients with Type II diabetes. What is it, what are the benefits and how to refer.

From 1 July 2022, nurses, occupational therapists, pharmacists, and physiotherapists can legally certify and issue fit notes. This event is to support the primary care team, new to fit notes, in starting to build their competence.

Discover more about pulmonary fibrosis, who is typically affected, the patient journey, what holistic support is available and how you could help support patients. We are lucky enough for this session to be joined by an expert patient and their carer.

Meet our Clinical Supervision Padlet Board!

This pilot discussion board has been designed to support those involved in the clinical supervision with others. It will be regularly checked so that we support with any questions that you may have.
